Eat and Sleep

Fun times at the botanical gardens

Hi all, it's Inky here.

I took my pinkies, Molly and the Labrador to the botanical gardens the other day.

It's been very sunny and warm and not wintery at all here lately so I thought it be a grand idea to stroll amongst some exquisite flora while enjoying the afternoon sun.

I must tell you there is quite a variety of ferns, flowers, shrubs and trees about however, this one caught my eye in particular...

Nice and pink, I thought. Lovely dash of colour even though being somewhat dormant in the winter season. Next up, a splash of yellow...

Equally lovely.

Tim and Molly went off the beaten track a bit...

Then, to keep the pinkies entertained, I allowed them to grab a cup of tea at the cafe while we had some snooze time in the sun...

I got the huffy puffies just from sitting there, that's how warm it was.

The shade of the lush growth seemed very appealing...

On the way out I waved good-bye to the Bollards...

There is a story about Geelong and the Bollard people and one day we will post about it on this blog. But it's bye for now.

Tongue Action

Ok, it's time for some serious tongue action.

Our pals, the world famous Rocky Creek Scotties, are running a comp of the best shots of tongue in action and we are in!

First up is Mad. Boy, has that old dog got a tongue on her...

Then it's over to Mongel Bear aka Molly...

And Inky Pup...

We thought we'd also sneak a shot of our dear friend Pekoe in.
Not just a pretty face...

So there you go. That's us. If you'd like to participate just post some shots of tongue in action on your blog, then head over to the Rocky Creek Scotties and let them know about it. Voila!

Fun times with Uncle Owie

On Saturday we went and had play time at Uncle Owie's house. We love Uncle Owie! We love his backyard, which is bigger than ours, too.

When we arrive we have to check the fence line. We like to stir up the two little mutts that live next door so that's first up on the agenda (and sometimes lasts hours).

Then it is time to tell the pinkies to let us all in...

If the pinkies aren't quick enough, we dig up the veggie patch or indulge in some other, similarly destructive activity. So the pinkie had better hurry or else it's dirty beards and muddy paws in the house and holes in the garden later.

Finally, we're in and it is time to get some well deserved rest on the couch...

We love you, your garden and your couch Uncle Owie!!

Fun times at Moriac

Hi all, it's Molly here.

Today we went and caught up with Lili. If you go back a few blog posts you'll notice that Lili is a dear friend of ours who attended the Million Paws Walk and the Geelong Airedale meet not that long ago.

So time had come to go and explore Lili's hood. We packed the pinkies and the Labrador in the Airebus and off we went to the beautiful country Victorian township of Moriac.

When we arrived at the Lambert residence it took some time for Inky and Lili to work out who's boss (and guess what, neither of them is, but I am!!). Once we got past that hurdle we had to do lots of sniffing and tail wagging while Lili showed off her kingdom.

The girls got stuck into Andy and kept begging to take us to one of Lili's favourite places...

Finally the pinkies got off the couch and took us to a special lake...

And of course, we bolted off immediately...

There isn't all that much water in the lake at the moment and mum said it reminded her a bit of the moon (I don't think she's been though??)...

Anyway, so we headed for the water...

And if you look closely, you can see I had climbed up some ole tree stump in the lake...

I had been trying to climb a tree in its entirety many a time so I finally felt like I had achieved my goal...

We had a good time chasing sticks (we had a well trained pinkie with us who kept throwing the sticks for us)...

And some of us even went for a proper swim...

However, some got more wet than others...

Personally, I like to stay dry up top (it's a hassle to get those curls back in place)...

Madness in the house

Well, what a surprise we got when dad came home the other night. It was already quite late and we had settled on our bed by the back door for the night.

We were sort of sleep-drunken when we heard the gate and at first didn't quite register the strange creature entering our quarters. There it was, shining like a beacon through the night... Maddie the snow dog (our cousin, well sort of) had arrived! Madness (as mum calls her) will be staying with us only for a little while. Grandad needs to rest his legs while recovering from surgery, so no walkies for him.

Boy, are we gonna show that old dog some tricks!

Wash Day

Well, yesterday was wash day. A day, that never starts off great. The local pet store offers $1 dog washes on a Tuesday so mum spends her lunchtime taking us down for a good (?) soak if we've recently indulged in grimy bone or, in Inky's case, rolled in feces or other rotten animal remains. We can assure you, we do NOT like the procedure much at all.

After 10 minutes in the hydrobath each we get a rub-down before we get out and go absolutely bonkers. It's rubbing our selves against shelves, on the floor, on other people...anything we can find in the shop that offers some kind of friction and smell-attraction. We go absolutely "flippin' bananas" (mum's words) just to get that ikky feeling off our skin.

Often the seizures last more than 10 minutes and we must rub ourselves against fences, lampposts, concrete structures etc as the pinkie drags us home. On a bad day, we still feel the urge as we enter the home and shoot straight for the rug where it is "face down, bum up" driving around for at least 4 laps before collapsing in a heap, panting from all the activity.

However, there is a happy ending. While paying for the dog wash at the counter, mum also picks up an order of pig's ears. So when we finally get home and have settled down a bit we hear our favourite advertising call, "Schweineöhrchen"...

Winter Bikkies

The other day something special arrived in the mail from the land far far away...

Mum said, he's an Airedale, but neeh, let us tell you, he's not like us...

Inky: I sniffed his bum (of course), and he's definitely not one of us...

Mum said, she got him from www.coppergifts.com (whatever that means)...

Then she got the goods out: Oats, Rice Flour, mashed banana (yum!), Arrowroot and Bi-Carb of Soda. She mixed it all together and made a big doughy ball, then rolled it flat. Time had come for our new little friend to go to work...

Then dad came into the picture and made some other shapes out of the left over dough...

And we had to wait what seemed like an eternity (20 Min) by the oven...

until the shapes came out hot and golden. Mum popped a couple in the freezer and a short while later (finally) we got to taste the first batch...

They were delicious but we got told we had to wait for more until the next morning because we've already had loads to eat that day (although we didn't think so, of course).

So the next morning we woke the pinkies up and reminded them that it was time to devour the rest of the cookies. We stormed into the kitchen and demanded...

And sure enough, there they were...

Then it was straight down the hatch...

With not a crumb left to spare...

Tell ya what, they are fantastic and definitely worth waiting for...

We were allowed another one but then got told that two is enough Bi-Carb of Soda in the guts which Molly promptly endorsed with a big Daleburp. What a classic!

But the Airedale cannot be fooled. We are fully aware that there is a whole stack left over so we think we are gonna have some friends over and devour the lot...
