Ahhh, Christmas... Gosh, it was good!

Anyway, just to give you an idea about scale, here we all are together..

And just as well Miss Eddie is a midget: she likes to camp in the big bed, under the duvet.
Since that is my fave spot for the night too, together with the two pinks in and under, and Molly on top, every inch matters.

I like to start off my birthdays (and in fact any other day) by going silly.
So when the place mat for the holy birthday cake went down, I went down too...

Now I got that out of the system, I AM READY!!!

And there she is....

So down I stuff it, as quickly as I can

making sure that little Inky Pups is getting none of my share...

Then, onto the presents...

And lookie lookie...

I got a cat!!!

So Inky wouldn't annoy me I let her open a present for me...

But once it hatched, it was over to me pronto...

I also got this squeeky person on a rope and Pinkie reckons it looks like me.
Ha ha, very funny.... not!

Then we had bubbles...

but I wasn't sure about those...

Can I eat them? I'll give them the lick-test (biggify to see my testing instrument properly)...

Then we were off for an outing down to the beach. It was blowing a gale and so there are no photos as Pinks had to use her hands to keep the skirt down :)

We went out for lunch in Torquay and I got loads of under-the-table treats, yeah!

On the way home we called in at the pet store to see my friends...

We also picked up some treats so we went back home to have a traditional birthday mongreling-around session

and then some veggie pigs ears to finish off...

I just love those...

and I fell asleep a happy girl...

It's my birthday!

Hi all! It's Molly here. I turned 5 today! I had a beautiful day with my family.

I even called in at the pet store to see my friends (above).

They were happy to see me.

I wish they could come home with me so I can take them on all my adventures...

Dale-Togethers etc

Hi all

Gosh, it's been donkey's again... Where were we?? Ah yes, that's right. The xmas in July do...

We didn't have any images to post for a long time. It appears our pink person was too busy on the day making mulled wine and raising funds for AireNet Airedale Rescue so she didn't take any photos. We had our paws full running after the other 30-odd Dales that attended of course.

Sue F of AireNet Airedale Rescue has now kindly supplied us with some shots so here we all are!

Our friends Jane & Fee together with their human pups had kindly opened their doors again to provide for a fun-filled day of butt sniffing, stealing treats and mongreling-around. Boy, did we have a ball....

And it appears the pink people had a jolly good time, too.

Here are Uncle Eric (right) and Auntie Helen. Helen made a fabbers cake with Airedales on it and it was one of the prizes for the raffle.

Here is our pink person announcing the lucky winners. Five lucky bastards walked away with our signed Todd Young prints depicting our beautiful race.

Auntie Jen had made loads of goodies again and there was a table full of stuffs including the coveted AireNet wine (click to purchase)...

So there MAY have been a tipsy pinkie or two...

What a day!

Anyway, next on the agenda of dale-togethers was a holiday up in Beechworth together with the Leuradales (photos stolen from Denise's Facebook page).

That day we had Duke and Zena come up with Auntie Jen, Gary & Lorna. We had a ball!

And a couple of days later, Auntie Helen together with Uncle Eric and Emma & Mink came to join us for an afternoon of funsies.

Willow and Mink are litter mates and it was their first reunion since puppyhood. What a pair!

We would like to thank the Leuradales and their pinkies for an awesome time. They were the perfect hosts and we loved their cottage and backyard!! (more photo's on Elfi and Denise's blog if you're keen).

We ourselves stayed in Yackandandah at "Time after Time" and we can highly recommend it to fellow travellers (they are pinkie friendly!).

The hosts looked after us really well and made us feel very welcome (despit Molly barking her head off at them). We'll be back! (if we're allowed..)

Our hosts Jane and Fi have kindly agreed to open up their doors again for everydoggie black & tan to come and mongrel around at their ranch in Wallington, this Saturday, 23rd.

We can't wait to have another fabbers party. We'll have fundraiser raffles, Airewine Tastings, Aireart giveaways and much more so come on all the locals!

Off the Aire...

We know, you haven't heard from us for a wee while and we haven't had a chance to visit any doggy's bloggie... Sorry!

And we'll only do a quick post and then we'll be off the Aire again until after Easter.

Anyway, the camera with the pics from THE birthday was finally found.

After Pinkie woke up from the dead following the night of the Blues Train (or Booze Train as they call it), we were off to lunch at a beautiful restaurant in Queenscliff. It's right on the water, near the ferry terminal. There was about 20 of Pinkie's friends INSIDE...

and guess what, me, the other birthday girl, and Molly OUTSIDE. Not fair!

Anyway, they did their thing for about three hours and finally someone came out to us with some cake...

I got the piece with the butterfly...

It was a beautiful cake that Pinkie's friend Zoe made. We like Zoe. She has a big garden and we go silly there. Zoe used to have an Airedale so she loves us too, but I digress...

After lunch, the Pinkies finally made up for having us wait outside the restaurant for hours. We headed down the beach and it was time for a customary birthday dip...

It is very pretty in Queenscliff...

However, Molly managed to slightly spoil it by rolling in something unmentionable.
Hey, I'm the one that rolls in things! Show Stealer!

Anyway, after Molly got scrubbed with sand in the ocean, it was time to return to our lodge to collect my presents...

Yes! A squeeky moo-cow! I so couldn't stop squeeking it...

And in fact, I squeezed it to death, there and then ....humpf....

MUM!.... Please come and whisper sweet nothings in my ear so I am not sad on my birthday...

Ahhhhh...that's better...

And because it was Pinkies birthday too, I helped her unpack some more pressies...

I also got a big pressie from my grandparents in Germania...

And then it hatched!

The best present EVER!!

It's a Kong Wobbler, and it shoots treats out when you tap it!!

I told Molly that this is just for me, ME, ME, ME....my birthday!!

And she ran off to sulk in the big bed...

Anyway, I had a fabbers birthday and I am so glad I share this special day with my special pinkie; it's double the fun!

So this weekend is a national holiday. What? You haven't heard?

Well, February 20 is Inky's and Mama's birthday. And the whole nation, heck, the whole world needs to know (apparently) that we take the birthday bizzo very serious. Following a series of public announcements (giving everydoggie a fair chance to get presents, cards and best wishes organised), we commence celebrations usually a day in advance. After all, it is half the family celebrating their birthday on the same day...

We usually have a whole weekend planned and/or a trip away. Because the two lovelies had to spend their birthdays apart last year (and gosh, we never heard the end of that, did pinkie's friend have to get married that weekend, in another country?), we are making up for it this year (apparently).

So we are all off to the beautiful Queenscliff for a couple of nights. It's only about half an hour away from home and we go there quite often, but it really is a nice place, beautiful historic township, beaches and great accommodation. The pink people have scored themselves some hot tix for the Blues Train for Saturday night and will celebrate with their own race for a few hours.

The Blues Train is a no puppies event unfortunately but we will keep the cottage we rented nice and cozy for them that night. To be honest, we need a little bit of a break from celebrating with their friends. This is what happened last time (New Year's Eve)...

So we are looking forward to a quiet night that night and a big day on the beach & birthday lunch with friends the day after.

Hey, I don't often admit it (I am simply not the complaining type, not like somedoggie else we know) but with all that fuss about THEIR birthday, I do feel left out a bit. Sure, my birthday is a special one too (September 11!), however, I don't share it with my favourite pink person... (insert big sad puppy face)...
However, my friends Hootie and Baby have just made up for that as they elected me as one of their winners and made me feel sooooooo special (thank you pals!). Read all about it here...

Got to dash, will try and get some snooze before the BIG weekend....

She has a way of 'powdering her nose', so you may not necessarily get it when you first look at her...

But this morning we caught her without any makeup on...

Hootie's Dress Up Contest

Hi, it's Molly here. I hope I am not too late for Hootie's Dress Up Contest, but I do wish to share this.

Some of you may have already seen these images, however, perhaps I haven't explained things properly yet....

My "dress-up" is less of a costume but more of an expression of my true inner self.
I believe in traditional values. I'm a real woman, all about the home and the family.

I like to look after my family. I spend hours running after them, cleaning up their spills, including those they leave on their faces, especially around the mouth area (you'd be surprised).
I like my family to present itself the best way it can and I detest unclean spaces and faces!

I take great pride in doing the dishes. While everypuppy else inhales their food and walks off onto the next best thing, I like to stay behind and ensure the dishes are cleaned, spotlessly!
I spend up to 20 Minutes cleaning one bowl - I do take this task seriously.

I like gardening. Nothing fills me more with joy than having a good dig around in the garden and then having a snooze in the sun on the deck, in the hammock bed.
For naps in the sun after gardening, a long sleeve dress and headscarf protect me from the harsh Australian sun.

I am happy at home. I do not like venturing out much. Although a trip to the beach with the family is much appreciated, I do not like exiting my physical and mental comfort zone.
Home is what I know best and home is where I am the happiest. At home I can be who I want to be and dedicate myself to my family.

That being said, I like to dress in a way that is most appropriate to the home scenario. A dress gives me the freedom to move around my legs in a way that is best suited to any given duty I am about to fulfil within the confines of our dwelling.
For practical reasons (I have a lot of hair) I like to wear a headscarf, too. That way I can ensure that nothing gets in the way when I am in action around the home.

Furthermore, as a female, I like to dress gender-appropriately. I feel at home in dresses and skirts, thats' just the way it is.
I like strong colours that complement the neutral colour palette of my natural hair - I feel confident at home and like to celebrate my true personality with bright colours and bold patterns.

I am proud to be female. I don't mind showing a bit of leg (see last image). I have nothing to be ashamed of.

Thank you for letting me share this and explain why I dress the way I dress.

Help a Dale in Need

This is a heartbreaking story.

In Oklahoma, a man surrendered 3 Airedales to rescue (I'm going to give him a teensy tiny bit of credit for at least surrendering and not dumping them into a shelter). The two lovely females are both heavily pregnant, and the male is the daddy. It appears that these dogs have been used as puppy-making machines based on the history of the man. The three dogs have lived their lives in a filthy outdoor kennel and have had litter after litter of puppies. They have no social skills and are petrified right now.

This lovely girl-Dale-mama is Pearl:

Pearl is 7, and she is also Lily's mama. Isn't she gorgeous? She's just about to have her fine Dale babies. No puppies for Pearl yet, but she is heartworm negative (yes!), both ears are infected, she has whipworms, and is in need of a dental.

And this pretty girl-Dale-mama is Lily:

Lily is 5, and is one of Pearl's babies. She is due to have her pups at the end of February.

This is Crockett, super-Dale-dad.

Poor guy, must be scared out of his mind. And then a bath? Geez... Crockett is a beautiful boy, and the father of both girl-Dales litters.

Hi all

We've a very special xmas surprise...

Meet Mr Tweet.

He arrived Christmas Eve with a big white box with little windows up the top...

The house was instantly filled with VERY interesting smells and I could not help myself but hoover around the house and get my schnozzie as close as possible to the little mate and his box.

The story is that Auntie Ange has a hobby farm and needed somedoggie to baby sit the brood while they went away on holidays.

ME! I'll babysit the duck!

Mmmmhhhh, duckie, come here...I will take care of you...

Oh, you smell so good....I bet you are real tasty too...

Oops, did I say that?

Ehem, no, of course not, I wouldn't hurt the little fellah... noooooooo.....

Anyway, the agreement was that if the duckie got hurt, I would get hurt so I play the game...

So anyway, it was Christmas Day and #2 arrived...

Needless to say, we called him Jesus.

There was a whole bunch of noise coming out of the special white box and before we knew it more people started to hatch. No wonder they were calling so loud. Someone had locked them inside a bunch of stinky eggs and covered them in smelly goop so they couldn't move...

How cruel, I would scream and peck until they got me out of there, too...

I tell ya what: These little fellahs have been keeping me up ALL night, for quite a few nights in a row.

You should smell the smell...it's just sooooo good...How can you sleep with that in the next room?

So I am up ALL night and when I am up with a special project on my mind ( I am just too dedicated, can't help it), nobody in the house gets any sleep. That's just how it goes. Only fair...

Finally, we had seven Tweeties all up and apparently they require a bit of upkeep - and you thought Airedales did, tseh...

See the nice clean sheets they have in their crate there?

Well, it doesn't take seven duckies long to make a complete mess of it...

So out they come and get put into another box (let me help)...

...while the maid cleans up their mess (I'll watch the duckies)...

Then they have another feed and the whole process starts over again...

Anyway, we all fell in love with the duckies and will miss them terribly (luckily, the smell will linger a little bit longer) ...

Barkfest in the rain

I tell you what, we had a ball!

It was BUCKETING down. All day. The whole time. Non-stop. Lots and lots of rain.

Perfect day for a picnic, I say!

Let's go... Got your gumboots peeps?

My grandparents from the tropical land of Germania are here at the moment so here they are with the first lot of out-of-towners who battled the elements and drove over two hours to make the day perfect.

Here we are with Mink and Emma and their peeps.

Down by the Barwon river is actually quite a nice spot for and picnic...

Anyway, once we yapped for a while, everydoggie else arrived and it was time to get rid of some beans (if you know what I mean) and go for a walk - in the rain of course!

There are NO photos of that bit - funny that.

Once we got back to shelter, it was time for munchies. There are 10 of us Dales & families here now.

And then some fund-raising activities...

Raffle tickets anyone?

We had stacks of prizes and all proceeds went to Airedale Rescue.

And not just the pinkies scored...

We even scored some xmas hampers that one special fairy had lovingly prepared ...

We truly did have a great day and didn't mind the weather one bit. All that rain made it even more special, people driving great distances and spending lots of hours preparing the raffle prizes...what a fantastic lot you are!

We know, we are not even half way through announcing all our winners from Molly's giveaway and we still have heaps of adventures that happened in the last few months to share but now the time has come to go offline again for a wee while....

After 10 years our peeps have finally decided to get married!

We will celebrate with family & friends on the 5th of November with a ceremony on the beach followed by a big bash at a nearby golf course. We are going too, of course, and right now we have our paws full with all the last minute preparations.

We already have some overseas visitors here and grandma and grandpa will arrive from Germany on Monday.

So you probably won't hear from us again for a little while again but we will be back with lots of stories and the photos of course.

Doggie Bloggie Awardification

Molly first:

1. I am insatiable! Some people call me Monster. Not very nice, is it now?!

2. I am a mommy's girl! I go all funny when she's not around...

3. I need my own queen-sized bed! I stretch out big and I love my family, BUT...

4. I had a tough childhood but am now in the best family ever! Thank you!

5. One time, I ate a corn cob and I nearly died. My family was very sad and didn't understand where the friggin thing came from (they never gave it to me). No one even knew I had it in me because I never did say and the first vet was stupid. It was lucky, there was another vet, a smart one. He eventually pulled it out. But after 5 days of not eating and drinking, 3 days in the hospital and one major operation I think I will never do that again. Apparently it was a very expensive corn cob.

6. I am absolutely gorgeous, stunning...apparently. Well, it must be true, they keep telling me every day!

7. I get tired from being silly. Sometimes it happens from one second to the next. First, really silly. Then, two seconds later, really tired. Boom!

8. I get annoyed with my little sister but apparently that's "normal".

9. I can climb trees. But often I make do with climbing on a bench or a table. I enjoy the view.

10. My famolly call me a zillion names, but not Molly.

The Inky Pups:

1. I might be a cripple but I do have a good go at life!

2. I am the smallest Airedale in town. They say I was the runt but the truth is, when I was about 8 months old my dad called me Thumbelina and I thought, well, sod it, I am going to stop growing now.
That'll learn him...

3. I like fish, a lot!

4. My favouristest thing in the world is going for a SWIM. I like it even better if the pinkie goes with me. But I go by myself a lot too. See body of water - must go in!

5. I sleep with mum. I wait until she's fast asleep. Then, around 2am, I hop on her bed, sneak in UNDER the duvets (I like it real hot and don't need much oxygen, I am only small after all) and sort of find the spot where I mould into best. Then she wakes up a little later, too tired to do anything about it, and, desperate for sleep, she lets me get away with it. I win!

6. I am obedient but often pretend not to be. Just for fun.

7. I LOVE going to the beach!

8. I love clobbering Molly and biting her in the leg or bum. So much fun!

9. I am spoilt rotten because I deserve it.

10. I love giving it to people with my little tongue. They get so excited!

Ok, so we're still catching up.

It was my birthday September 11 and I went bonkers as I do every year, or every day for that matter.

It was my friend Winnie's birthday on the 9th of September so she came to stay for sleepovers.

The day started with big cuddles from everybody.

Then came the cake, mum's special Toast Birthday Cake - my favourite. I could barely contain myself when it was served up so the photos are a tad shaky...

The cake was justly divided into three parts. I got half and the Inky and Winnie shared the other half. Only fair, I reckon.

We had a good mongrel-around to work off some of those calories...

Then it was time to have a wee nap (I did just get a whole year older after all)...

After a short break we sat together and decided what to do next...

I said, it's a no-brainer...

we're going to the beach!

So I got my party hat and off we went...

I don't know what got over me (it must have been the hat) but I went beyond gaga and nearly had to be carried back to the car, so puffed out I was.

Boy, did i have a good time (you can biggify this one)!

Anyway, that's a wee while ago now.

So back to the present...and the presents!

Ok, so what are the odds? Having one broken Pink Person is fair enough. Things happen. But two???

Sheesh, over the past couple of weeks we've run our socks off trying to nurse everypinkie back to "normal", whatever that is. We can tell you, it sure is a tough job. We're a bit spent now...

And we have lectured and warned them not to get themselves into that scenario EVER AGAIN.
If they wouldn't break themselves in the first place we wouldn't have to spend all our energy trying to unbreak them, and in the process breaking ourselves...ahhhh, it's a vicious circle....
There is a lesson in there for all of us!

We quite like when THEY look after US, which is what we consider normal, and we don't fancy the idea of two dogs running the household (and the business) much at all.

You've guessed it, I spent half of my birthday going crazy and the other half in the WWM.
For those of you that do not know, the WWM is the Wooshey-Washy-Machine.

That is one hell of an apparatus and once you get into the "you-are-too-cute-I-will-have-to-cuddle-you-to-death-cycle" you know about it after.

So I have been just deflated from that ole experience and the Inky Pups, well....

Our pinkie has been somewhat broken, so the Inky Pup has been nursing her with special "tuck tuck" session in bed.

So we're all a bit out of it over here and hope that you will be understanding and patient with us.

One thing we have managed to achieve is establish the winners from our contests.

With all that rain we've been having...

We've had our 100th post, and didn't even mention it.

We've been in the blogging industry over one year now, but we've let that milestone slip too.

At the zoo

Here at the ranch, we live with an array of exotic animals.
Because there are so many different species living in close confinement, there can be the odd barney every now and then with the odd injury arising here and there.

The health system here in Australia does not always accommodate for medium to large-scale surgeries to be done straight away, so subsequently the patients have to go on a waiting list.

There are simply not enough qualified surgeons or not one surgeon with enough time so in some instances the patient has to wait several months before the much needed operation takes place.

Take Mr Duck, for example.
He arrived here about this time last year. He had only been with us a short while before it became apparent that he was of poor health. A simple tug-and-tow left him with a gashing wound on his chest and a collapsed lung. Before his "accident" he was able to utter simple duck sounds and engage in everyday conversation. After "the accident" his state of health reclined rapidly but help was not available until now.

However, we are pleased to announce that the very qualified surgeon visited our country town last weekend and was able to help not just Mr Duck but ALL patients on the waiting list.

Amongst the lucky ones that were issued with a new lease on life was The Piggy.

The surgeon was not only able to save his ear (although it is a bit more stickie-uppie than before), she also helped him regain his grunt.

Mr Duck, although capable of making half a duck noise immediately after surgery, has gone quiet for what we suspect will be forever. Nonetheless, his chest cavity is fixed. Phew...

The Kiwi regained the use of his feet (although one toe had to be amputated) and he can still speak, too. He does a really cool twerp twerp rainforest kind of call when you squeeze his special part.

And the giraffe still has one shoe that squeaks.

See how his body has different fur compared to the head and legs?
Well, this was not the first time this lucky (or unlucky?) fellow had life-saving surgery.
Maggie, Riley and Bonnie's pinkie, also a qualified surgeon, had saved his life after things got a bit too exciting down at Merricks over the bay when Molly was there on holidays last. Different town, better health system. He got seen the same week.

Back then, Angus had also much needed surgery of the neck. Because Molly loves him so much, he gained a ginormous wound at the back of the neck from all the lovin' but hung in there nonetheless.
Molly doesn't leave the house without him so, Angus, despite his poor state of health back then, made the big trip across the bay with her and was rewarded for it, too!

So all things are good now with everyone presenting with optimum health, given the circumstances, and we deemed it appropriate to gather for a family photo.

Don't laugh, I got scrubbed.

Apparently I still had the stench of vet on me but had been unable to support myself on three leggies in the shower so I didn't have to endure the dreaded BATH for ages.

But my day finally came.

Of course, I went bonkers after.

Anyway, I figured, something spesh must be in the pipeline.

And it was. It was the day Bonnie and Riley arrived.
My dear pal Riles and his Mini Monst of a sister.

Celebrations were soon underway.

We hadn't caught up in ages like this because last time my family went to their ranch over on the dark side, I got ditched. The crippled child got left behind. What a nice family, hey?

Anyway, all is forgotten now and we not only celebrated our reunion but also the return of my fourth leggie. I am crippled no more...

Yes, yes, yes. I am walking! On FOUR legs!!

Did you hear that? I am a four-legged person again!

I am walking, putting weight and all four sticks of mine. They wobble about a bit but they are working!

I can't believe this. I haven't had a properly functioning fourth leg for pretty much six month now, but Number 4 is back and it's here to stay (I hope)!!

I have to go.

I have to go and walk around some more.

Will post more later but I have to plan my first trip to the beach now, and prepare for xmas in July, and the Airedale Club Bush Day and....oh, I can see my life has been given back to me!

Lights Out

Hi all, it's Inky here.

I just woke up from some weird kind of dream...

Before I dozed off, I vaguely remember going to that dreaded place in Melbourne where they hacked my little leggie. All seemed ok but for some reason, ma and pa were walking into another direction to me, waving good bye before they disappeared through the glass doors.

Then I felt all groggy and the lights went out.

When I woke up, I felt absolutely awful. My head was humming as if I had helicopters going back and forth between my ears. My stomach was churning and turning and my gut felt terrible.
I could barely see through my own eyes and everything was a blur.

Shards of voices were humming through the room. Was that mum?

There was a noise of rattling coins, or perhaps credit cards being swiped.

Oh gee, I was a real mess.

From what I could gather I had a near miss with someone who tried to kill me.

I felt ma's familiar and warm grip to support my wobbly legs, then I collapsed again.

The next thing I remember is that I woke up looking like this...

I figured it couldn't have all been a dream. I had a shaved butt butt. AGAIN.

And some bastard had stolen the fuzz off my entire leggie. AGAIN.

My poor little crook leggie. I had just managed to regrow all the fuzz the bastards stole it in January.

Who left my hinie exposed like this in the middle of winter? What sort of a scuzzball would do that to a little pup like myself? Hadn't I already endured enough??

However, I was glad to finally be home again in safety, but gee, I still had monster headache and, boy, was I ravenous.

I instantly ordered mushy porridge, a bowl of warm milky water and a handful of treats.
I felt some relief but still felt dreadful. My ears were way down.

I got the shivers, BAD, so my pinkies tucked me in with a hot water bottle...

And Molly kindly lent me Angus to snuggle up with...

And the lights went out again...

Treading Water

Hi all.

It's Inky here.

Well, I have been treading water with my little broken knee.
Just no improvements, only limpies. It's been 5 months of boringness.
I don't know why things are so buggered up, but they are.

My outdoor life has been restricted to barking at pigeons in the back yard and umpa-lumpa-ing around on the lead outside, for ridiculously small and unexciting walkies.

The other day, I have had it. I put my best "I am a broken soul so please do something and put me out of my misery"-look on and persuaded Pinkie to take me to my favourite place in the world - the beach.

I knew she wouldn't let me go bonkers off the lead but she at least helped me get into my favourite element, WATER.

See body of water - must go in!

We came prepared. I had dressed the pinkie in her gum boots so she could brave the freezing ocean waters together with me. I was wearing my special hydrotherapy outfit and so we went to a safe spot, next to the Barwon Heads bridge where the river meets the ocean, with no waves, and firm ground.

Then it was time to really "tread water". Just what the doctor had ordered!!

I can't tell you how good it felt to have the icy goodness swishing and swoshing and splishing and splashing in my leg furs. I love nothing more than the feeling of "beach" between my toes.

Boy, it was hard not to take off and go bananas but I know what my limits are at the moment.
We went up and down a few times and I guess I was a bit buggered after all that exercise.

We headed up to the nearby cafe for refreshments. Overlooking the coast I gazzobled my raw hide bone...

ahhhh, life was good again...

When we got home I was well ready for snoozies...

and since I have become a cripple, the couch seems to be my favourite place.

Ahhhh, thank you, Pinkie.

Tuesday Mornings

We love Tuesdays.

Tuesday mornings is when the bins get collected.
It starts with the 6am drumming and kraplonkering of the garbage trucks coming up the lane.
Then a "tweep-tweep-tweep" as the 1st garbo reverses closer to our house.
But by that time we're already on high alert.

We sleep inside, you see (direct descendants of the common house cat, would you believe it!)
But that doesn't stop us from picking up the first signs of "Tuesday Morning" (super-sonic hearing).

We vividly BARK our little noggins off. We dance and prance around the house and thus indicate that we HAVE to get outside to "greet" the "tweep-tweep-tweep" which involves EVERYONE having to get up of course. Hey, we're only being friendly. Not our fault it's currently winter and freezing cold and too dark to be standing out on the dewy deck in old-fashioned pyjamas.

And as luck would have it, we not only get one sort of garbage collected on a Tuesday mornings, no, TWO!! So the whole thing happens twice over.
Boy, what a festival - every Tuesday morning.

It get's better!!!

Since we're all up, we might as well go for a walk.
With all the emptied (or not so emptied) bins around, some lying on their back, we follow the irresistible scent of Bin Juice. Delightful.

Sometimes, there are BITS which we immediately try to hoover up before the pinkie yanks on the lead.
She doesn't know what she's missing. Yumalicious Bin-Juice-covered BITS. Arrrr.....

But when she really gets upset is when one of us tries (and sometimes succeeds) to climb and crawl into the tipped-over bins to get to the heavenly sweet-smelling jackpot of 10 year-old festered substance while the other distracts her with walking off into the opposite direction or pretending to go potty.

Hooray! We love Tuesday mornings!!

After all that activity we retreat to our Banana Lounge and enjoy the morning sun - we don't have to go to work!

A weekend with Max and Pekoe

Hey all, it's Inky here.

You all know by know that Max and Pekoe are practically family.
They're here all the time, we're there all the time.
It doesn't really matter, it's all family.
Best thing is, they live just around the corner or rather "down the road".
We know the way quite well. If you walk it orderly on lead (who does that?) it will take you about 10min tops.
Molly, being a bit of a superior being, has even walked the distance all by herself, forget about the lead OR the guiding pinkie. No kidding. That's how well she knows the way.
Crossing the highway, walking along the railway line and over another busy road, she's found her way home, all by herself. Twice. What a clever little chicken, hey?!
At least the second time Max and Pekoe's family knew where to find her and then decided they wouldn't leave the door open for her to escape anymore.

Anyway, that's another blog post.

So Max and Pekoe came for a weekend of "fun for four".

We did all the usual things, go to the beach together (no, I did not get let off-lead, what a sham), dine alfresco together, mongrel around together, walk around town together and so on.

But then, WE GOT DONE. Big time!

She's been raking us, scraping our furs out.
She says, every now and then we have to "pay the rent".
She plucks and plucks and "harvests" our fuzz, like there is no tomorrow.
We call it theft but she says, it's for art's sake.

What sort of art is that??

Some one call the authorities. We are being taken advantage of.

Before Max could get harvested on, he had to have some major works done, apparently.
He got a full bath (eeeeek), had his nails clipped (horror), got molested between the toes for 2.5 hrs having yuckballs cut out (yes, his own pinkie has been neglecting him) and THEN he finally had his furs stolen.

She sold it to him as the Deluxe Spa Package and tried to sweeten him by saying that he's go the softest fuzz ever and he was looking the prettiest boy in town but even our gullible Maxie didn't buy that. He did fall asleep over all the fussing around on him so he didn't appear to be suffering too much.

We must tell you, the harvesting of fuzz has been happening on a regular basis here.
You all know by now that our pinkie is well crazy.
So she makes stuff out of our furs.

You all have seen this post before when this strange fellow came about...

Have we ever told you what happened to him?

Well he was always kind of flat but he ended up flat as a pancake "stapled" to a cushion.
What a way to go.
He was named 'Riley', and that's whom he went to live with, our friends across the bay.

Just as well, we wouldn't want that stinky bugger in our house! After all we thought he was real and thus a real threat in terms of competition for OUR treats.

So we have a feeling that this beautiful mess...

...will be turned into another beautiful mess, or lets call it ART, for pinkie's sake.

After an afternoon of raking fuzz, we FINALLY got a reward, some well deserved pigs ears!

A Million Paws and more...

Hey all

It's the Mongel Bear here.

This is me on the ferry on my way back from my holiday adventure with the cats on Riley and Bonnie's ranch at Merricks.

Here I am reflecting on the good times I had with my 2 human, 2 feline and 2 canine friends on the other side of the bay.

I was so glad to be reunited with my favourite pinkie though, I could have eaten him when I first saw him again (I get a bit that way sometimes)...

I love MY pinkie!

People say, we look alike, too...

I am happy when I am with him, he brings out the crazy side in me...

We make each other happy...

I feel how heart-breaking it is every time a pinkie-doggie relationship is ended because either one has had to pass on.

There has been a lot of that happening in our little community lately.

This year's Million Paws Walk in Geelong was a great success.

Team Airedale was represented strongly with 15 Airedheads plus their pinkies.

Here we are, kerfuffling, about to get ready (more photos with the shitty shitty bang bang camera, sorry)...

There were soooooo many different smells...

It was great to see (and smell) everybody out and about.

Here we are posing at the front with our bestest friends, Max and Pekoe...

Once we left the start line, it was pretty hard to stick together as a team as paws and feet were rolling like an avalanche and some of us (we won't mention any names here) felt the urge to go potty there and then in midst of the stampede.

Anyway, here is Little Limpy hobbling along, all in the name of Dog...

Once we were through the finishing line we gathered to celebrate our proud achievement with drinks and nibbles for all.

There were lots of games and competitions and we even entered some.

Our pinkie went in for the "look like your pet" Lookalike competition. He actually went in with Inky while I was stretching my legs and they got called The Twins, ha! However, they didn't win anything of course because, quite frankly, I should have gone in with him.

Then there was the tricks competition. Inky went in with her "BANG (point your finger like a pistol at her) and play dead" but suffered from stage fright and stalled on Pinkie big time.

I did my trusted Roll Over and then the Kiss for mum.

But it was our Lili Lambert that stole the show with her Flop Drop, kazooming down with both paws on command. She got herself a harness, collar and some other cool things to show off with. Well done, Lila, we're proud of you!

She sure is one cute pupster and I had A LOT of fun with her on the ranch in Merricks (with the cats). And here is her brother Riles aka Riley...

With such an eventful day it is needless to say that we were all puckered out when we got home.

By the way, a lot of peeps have been asking about the Inky Pup. She is ok, thank you all for your concern. She is however somewhat three-legged. That fourth leggie of hers just won't function the way it used to. When she is lying down, the sick leggie often sticks up in the air. And when she gets up, she won't put any weight on it at all.

She is coming along for little walkies now but zoomies on the beach are still out of the question.

BORING.

We heard that Sunshade had a similar fate and feel now that we should be more patient. But it's been so long....

Anyway, she has just finished her course of medication so we'll be off to the vets again shortly (with that cheque book in paw) to see what's next. We'll keep you updated.

We had Max and Pekoe stay with us again for a long weekend (they sadly got picked up today), so we'll update you on that in the next post.

We're the bloody hell are ya?

We're back!!!

Gosher's it's 'only' been a month but it feels like absolute donkeys.

We are jumping back in time for a moment, as we understand we have some updating to do.
So let's start with Easter (it already feels like an eternity ago, doesn't it??).

We've had the bunny deliver some delightful droppings, but before we show you some photos, we must issue this warning:

BEWARE: these photographs were taken with the (rhymes with) "kitty" "kitty" bang bang camera and are as a good a quality as the land it came from. Pinkies bought this on a previous trip OS at the airport and thought, given the amount of money spent, it would be ok. But, sadly, NO. We look like smeary fuzzballs. 'Crapola' is the word we're thinking of. Anyway, moving right along (maybe it's just not set to "Airedale Settings")...

It came. It delivered. We found. We gazobbled.

We continued the traditional annual Easter "Egg" Hunt inside...

And also had a good mongrel around with our new favourite toy, Humpty Dumpty...

Our special friend Maggie (that's Riley's mum if you remember), she made them just for us. Isn't she clever?! She is a textile and fiber artist and she even has her own Etsy store so we think you should all visit her here.

She also makes felt Easter Eggs for pinkies...

and has many other beautiful wearable pieces of art she creates.

Anyway, when the bunny (and all them delicious Easter treats) left, it was time to say goodbye. It wasn't the first time that our little family was split up but it was definitely the longest time we were going to be apart. A whole three (3!) long weeks, all on different sides of the planet.

Molly got shipped off (literally) with her seven things, including Angus, over to "the other side"...

to be with THE CATS and Riles and his family, including little Bonnie Monst of course.

Well, with such great company, she had a ball of a time of course...

Pinkies found out she had not only her own bedroom with a queen-sized bed but also her own couch

while poor ole Riles got the tiles...

Apparently Mini Monst aka Bonnie is not allowed on the couch either so her and Angus (and some other strange fellah) snuggled up at the bottom of Miss Molls' ivory tower...

Lady Limps-a-lot (that's Inky in case you had forgotten) got carted off to Auntie Marsy to spend the time with Max and Pekoe. They also got booted off THEIR couch to accommodate the guest with the limpy limb.

Our pink people went in a completely different direction and when there were reports that they had gotten to Rainbow Bridge, we were well worried.

Turns out, there is another, totally different Rainbow Bridge out there...
So luckily, they came back!! And now the whole family is happily reunited again...

And we look forward to resuming normal blogging activity!!

Molly's secret life and an Inky update

Hey all, it's Molly here.

That little Inkypup of ours, she hasn't been any good. Her leggie doesn't seem to be functioning like it used to. She just had another set of x-rays taken last Friday (yep, another general anaesthetic) and it appears the knee still hasn't healed yet (I could have told you that).

So most activities and the family's active lifestyle have been somewhat on hold since IT happened. BORING!! She just hangs around the place and has mainly turned into a couch potato.

Poor thing. Not much else she can do really. The pinkies have been taking her for drives instead of walks and the other day we went for "a carry". That's when you get your pinkie to carry you while the rest of the family is walking. Down by the river. Lovely.

Mind you, the whole thing has been a bit, shall we say, unfulfilling for me. I still NEED to go crazy. And I miss the beach.

I know, Inky misses it more. Her other name is Little Miss Beach and Lady-swims-a-lot.
However, just because one of us has drawn the bad luck card (big time), doesn't mean we all have to put our lives on hold.

So I have been recruiting my friend Winnie, aka the Wintah Dog, to fill in for the Inkypup.

I put on my party ears on...

and invited her to come down to the beach with me.

So here is one thing you have to promise me all:

DO NOT TELL THE INKYPUP!!!

I know she would be well upset if she found out that a) we've been going to the beach and b) we have been going without her and c) we have been going with another pup.

And I simply don't want to worsen her mental state any more than it already is.

Anyway, the Wintah Dog and I have been having some fun!!

We've been going for a swim together...

We've been running wild together..

Until all tongues were extended out to the max...

But because I love my little sissie so much, I've also invited Wintie and her mum to our house so she could at least join in the party there.

Hey all.

We're back. The pinkies are back. Inkypups have been returned and Mollies have been collected.
And... guess what! Pekoes, Maxes and Winnies have been added.

We are one happy family indeed. The more the merrier. Five times the fun.

You know it was Inkypup's Birthday and because the pinkies decided to leave their favourite baby behind on her special day and go off and engage in "their own fun things without us" (an oxymoron really) we took the next best opportunity to have a little party of our own.

We had a long weekend together with our posse of closest black and tan associates. And since we were in the party mood, we decided it was a good opportunity to christen mum and dad's new floor and welcome it to its new life, Airedale stylee (don't cry about the scratches, Pinkie, it was gonna happen sooner or later).

You may have heard of the Melbourne storms over the weekend. Well, we were not too far away from all that and it has been BUCKETING down. Thunder. Lightning. The works. Lots and lots and lots of rain. Who says, we're having a drought? Didn't look so droughty to us. Mongreling around. In and out. Wet paws. (Clean) gutters overflowing. Backyard turned to mud slide. In and out. 20 paws....that new floor (and the mop) have been getting a good work out (Pinkie, don't worry about it, these are material things. Main thing is, WE HAD FUN!).

Because of all the rain and crazy weather there has been some time spent indoors (biggify).

Here we all are in the (Airedale) lounge. Relaxing.

Until a familar sound and deliciously foul smell fills the room. Then we're off to go and check it out...

It's happening behind that door. It's the laundry. The pinkies are so uptight about their non-meaty habits that our stuff, especially the deliciously foul smelling stuff, gets prepared in the laundry.
Pinkie would say, it has a door to protect the lackey from being attackey while prepackey the stinky treat.

Think again. As soon as she comes out....ATTACK!!!

Hey pals

It's Inky here. A lot of you have been asking how I am. Well, I am ok given the circumstances. Slightly going bonkers as I am in my 5th week of nothingness but all up I must give my pinkies and their friends credit...

I have just been to The Specialist again. He is a specialist in extracting money from the pinkies. He also told us that, after having seen my new xrays (yep, had to be knocked out for that one, AGAIN), it is apparent that my bones are far from healed and that I will need another 6 weeks of nothignness.

Can you imagine???

Boy, I didn't want to go through the door there. I put the party brakes on big time. Ears down, tail in.
I knew it was going to be bad news...

"The bones have not healed yet...it needs more time...confinement...rest, rest, rest"

Anyway, I am alive, I am loved and we will battle through this together...

Here I am posting off a cheque to the treasury of the Airedale Club of Victoria today.

We walked at absolute snail's pace about 50m to the post box on the corner (which is ok by The Specialist). it took us about half an hour return. All I wanted to do is do the Inky Zoom, but no, the only thing zooming was those snails on the way past us... Nonetheless, I got some good sniffs in and even some peemail! Keep that delicate Airedale mind stimulated...aaahhhh....

Now onto some more serious matters.

Apparently, having a broken Inky costs a bomb.
So I would like to give ourselves another plug and point out that we have some wonderful gear available through our shop

Competition Mania

Hi all it's Molly here.

With all these competitions going on, and us having missed the Mango Minster deadline already (sorry Norwood, I know we have disappointed you), we thought it would be time to get the speedy boots on...

As you all know, we are one "man" down in the Inky and Molly team so I took it upon myself to save face.

Again, it's confusing. Biggie Z's name for his dog pile comp has nothing to do with dogs piled on top of one another (although we could have contributed to that as well). No, no. It's about dogs with piles.
Oh, hang on, that's not it either. Sheesh, this is going all wrong...
No, it's about stuff being piled ontop of the dog. YES! And Airedales too.

So, we're in.

Pinkie thought it was fun to play and good ole me, being such a good sport, I play along with anything they want me to. That's how nice a monster I am.

So here is us getting ready...

I am ready for my first load of washing...

Yep, that's one whole load of white washing plus some hand-wash garments.

Yep, just in case you're wondering, it's DIRTY washing. Smelly Pinkie Stuff.

Load #2: The Brights (apparently they don't go together with the whites).

And load number #3: Dark Smelly Pinkie Stuff plus Inky's beach towel.

And the good stuff keeps on coming... Yep, two Stinkie Pinkies hadn't done their washing for a while (their excuse is, looking after Inky is a full-time job...yea, right...)

Nicely topped off with some half-dirty stuff they found in the bedroom. "Half -dirty, what's that?", I hear you ask. Apparently, it's the stuff that has half been worn, isn't quite clean clean anymore but doesn't justify wasting water and detergent on it yet.

Well it alll seems pretty complicated to me. Why do they have so many clothes anyway? We only have two coats, on and off. Surely that's enough for anybody??

Anyway, while they decide what's half dirty, dark or bright, I am having a nap (not sure if you can see it, but my eyes are closed and I even uttered a "before bedtime sigh")...

...before I get rudely awaken by the tape measure. Dog, do I hate that thing. It's made from metal and I CANNOT stand the noise it makes. I am off...

But pinkie had just enough time to work out that my pile is just under 1m high. Should I be going to the doctor's???

Moving right along, next up is Tucker's sit -stay contest.

As you know, the Airedale is a direct descendant of the ape and thus I am very good not only at climbing trees but also at hauling myself up onto any other elevated platform whenever I wish to do so.

Here I am on top of the fish pond at my grandparents' home...

And you all know about my fave spot in the back yard to have a tete-a-tete or a romantic dinner for two with my fave male pinkie. Well, I also like to spend time there by myself, watch the birds, peek over the fence to spy on the neighbours or to simply to reflect on life...

And that's my entry for Tucker's contest!

Little Miss Lampshade

Hi all

Yes, yes. Very funny. I sure heard them all by now....

Little Miss Lampshade, Lady Satillite, Funnel Head, Bucketling etc on top of the Lady Hopsalot and Miss Limpsalot. I must tell you, it's all wearing a bit thin now and I am ready to go back to normal.

But apparently it is only week three of six full weeks of nix, nuffin, nada, zip & zilch.

Everyday I make a point of giving them THE LOOK as often as possible, just to show that I think it's all THEIR fault. And it is. THEIR FAULT. Why did HE have to take me there, and why wasn't SHE there to protect me?!! And all that looking I do... it's working.

I have them so far, that they take me for drives instead of the daily walks and romps on the beach, feed me culinary delights every hour on the hour and carry me to as many different locations throughout the day as possble in order to stimulate the "Airedale's delicate mind", like a person in the know once said.

I give Molly as much grief as possible too (why ME and not HER?) and run into her with that dreaded cone of mine as hard and as often as I possibly can. Hah, why should I be the only one suffering here? What did I ever do to anybody?

The good thing is, every time I get a treat (hourly), the helmet comes off. I quickly sneak in a lick of my THIRD non-healing wound on THE LEG before the culinary delight is served. She yells. I give her the "MUM, I am suffering, BIG TIME!!"-look...

and she forgives instantly, serving the delicious snack anyway...

My fave these days is dog sausage stuffed in a Kong. Contrary to its name, dog sausage does NOT contain dog, it is however served to dogs. And Airedales like it too! Inkys especially.

So some of the stinky goodness gets cut up into long pieces, then she smears it into the Kong, nice and tight, so its stuck together and to all sides like some kind of mashed paté paste. Enter the Inky tongue, and GO!!!..

The rest is history...

That takes about 20 -30 min (depending on stuffing technique) out of my BORING ole existence so I ensure I have a few of those throughout the day.

So things are still a bit drab but I am surviving just fine. Thank you for all your kind meassage, I really appreciate them.

Drive-Thru Wednesday

Hi all, it's Molly here.

The pinkies hadn't left the house together for a while as one of them had always been staying with the patient at home.

So I thought I would be nice to take everyone on an outing and go for a drive...

I've loaded up the Airebus with all four Dales (myself included) and the two pinkies and off we went...

Of course, where do you go for an afternoon treat with a disabled Inky, a blind and arthritic Max, a psychologically challenged Pekoe, a barker like myself and two tired pinkies??

To the coffee drive-thru! Not the type where there have the burgers and stuff (I wish, but my pinkies are just not burger people), a coffee only drive-thru. Well coffee and treats only.

I can't believe I didn't have that idea earlier but we are definitely going back (and next time we'll take a camera).

You know why?

We got Schmackos on the way THRU. Turns out they do coffee, treats AND Schmackos (only).

Yep, fed through the window like they should.

I wanted to go for a second lap THRU but pinkie said we had to get back to work.

I didn't!??

Hi all. It's Inky here. A BATTERED Inky.

I thought it was bad enough that I can't go to the beach, can't mongrel-around with my sister and friends, can't walk, stand or do anything at all really.

Well, the Gods have thought of one more thing to punish me with...

THE BUCKET, or should I say, THE EVIL BUCKET.

I know that my pal Fozzie had his fair share of the mean treat recently, but I had never thought it would come around to make my life even more miserable than it already is.

Apparently there has been some complications. Has there ever!
Not in regard to the actual new knee (thank the Lord of Puppies, or I don't know what else I would have to endure). It's the other oozy hole in my leg instead. Hooray!

I was told that while I was knocked out (Bastards!) during my "operation" ("torture" would describe it more precisely) they had me pinned up, like a dead insect on some foam core, to keep my leg "in the right position". Well I am glad that my leg was in the right position for my torturers, however, it left me with a nasty infection from the pins they used. Schanks a lot.

And because of that, I have been unable to put pressure on my leg. My little footsie had not touched the ground since before my op and I've quickly gained the nickname Lady Hopsalot. A concerned call to the "the specialist" (an expert in his field of torture) by my pinkies raised alarm that something could have gone terribly wrong so on the morning of day #8 I was rushed back to hospital.

Oh boy, I didn't want to go back THERE....

Anyway, it took the vet all of 5 seconds (we travelled there for 1.5hrs) to laugh it off (I am glad someone was amused) and let me go with $150 worth of antibiotics.
"That should clear up the infection which has been preventing her from putting pressure on her leg"....

Now, can you imagine though that an oozy hole in the leg would give you the irrits and that you would want to lick it 24/7??
Well, the solution for that apparently is to put a bucket over ITS head.

HELLO!! What about my dignity?? And how on earth am I meant to chew treats or rest comfortably or even look around, the last pleasures left to the cripple that I have become??

I sure have been practising THE LOOK of total disapproval...

and have been succeeding at getting THEM to feel guilt-ridden enough to take the bucket off on occasions. I quickly sneak in a decent lick of the wound (got to make the most of it), but before I know it, I get yelled at and the bucket is back on. So unfair...

Meanwhile, the oozy hole is still driving me stir crazy!

Hi all, it's Inky here.

Life has not been fun...

Out of 24 hrs in the day, I have been confined to my bed 23.75 hrs. Not much fun for an Airedale, let alone an Inky.

To ease the boredom, beds have been strategically placed around the home by my nursing staff, so every few hours I get shifted to another room for "a change of scenery" (and for my staff to get a chance to freshen up the sheets)...

When it's time for potty, I ring a bell and I get carried out. I call it a "Tim Taxi". Every time on time.

I also signed up with the "meals on wheels" program and, no matter what bed your in, they find you and serve refreshments and food right to your bedside.
Ever so convenient.

I have been like this for a week now and the first few days were definitely the worst. I was all drugged up and didn't fancy the world much at all.

I couldn't and didn't want to move. Didn't want to speak to anyone. I was depressed and bloody sore (biggify)...

And I can't for the world of me think of what I could have done to deserve this.

Pinkie said, I had torn a cruciate ligament and been "too much of an Airedale" (is there such a thing??). Well, I am sorry, Cruciate Ligament, for hurting you or even tearing you. I wasn't aware. I would like to take this opportunity and kindly apologise to you for any harm I may have caused. Can you please forgive me? And can I please go back to normal now??!!

Well I thought I was dying until a familiar pair of footsteps approached...

Uncle Owee!!! He had come to have a beer with me and I would NEVER think of not getting up for MY uncle Owee!!

After greeting uncle Owee and "giving him one", I felt knackered and had to hop (literally) straight back to (another) bed...

Luckily, just I was returning to my state of depression, Lacie and her crew of Wire Foxies turned up to help nurse the despondency away...

However, what my Foxy Friends didn't know is how BLOODY hot it gets in this country. It was 44 degrees Celcius here the other day, which, so Mr Goolge tells me, is 111.2 on the Farenheit scale.

With Max and Pekoe being here as well, my staff have been working overtime nursing me plus supplying icy treats and cold neck ties to everyone; every hour, on the hour.

Once the heat (and the Foxies) had left town we loaded the Airebus and headed down to the river for respite. I ordered another Tim Taxi to get me from the car onto a lush green grassy patch under a big cool tree and watched the water skiers (a nurse by my side) while the rest of the crew went for a walkie. No photos here as the pinkie (apparently) had her hands full.

So that's me, pottering along, just surviving. Apparently there is 6 weeks of this life and a total of three months of "not being an Airedale".

What does that even mean??

Something bad has happened...

Hi all it's Molly here.

Sheesh, I don't even know where to start.

It's about the Inkster, she no good at the mo.

I noticed how she left with Tim early in the morning Tuesday. They didn't come back all day. Then Tim came back late, without the Inkypup.

The next day, she still wouldn't come home.

Just between you and me, I didn't really mind too much. I spent some time running errands with the pinkie, had all the attention to myself, got spoiled without having to share anything. I thought, not having that little mutt of a mongrel around sure has its benefits.

Just as I was beginning to settle into the only child routine, Thursday night, Inky reappeared.

She was being carried in like a wounded slodier.

I gave her a good sniff all over. She sure smelled off! Some weird stench coming from her. I found some wound oozing pus on her knee...

There was some other rank smells coming off her, especially her mouth and backside. Had she been vomiting or the victim of extreme diarrhea??

Even I started to begin feeling sorry for the poor lass...

Gosh, whoever or whatever got to her, shaved her butt and leg on one side nearly completely and she also has a shaved patch on her back.

She's broken! She can't even stand on all fours (let alone twos) anymore.

Worst of all, she doesn't want to play.

Guess what she did today? She hung all day in her bed, none of the usual Inky antics, not even a hint. Just sat there...

She slept most of the time but often she would just look at me as if to say, hey, i would love to move but I have lost my spirit...

It nearly broke my "big sister heart".

Today was a very hot afternoon so the Inkypup got a cold wet cloth on her head to keep her cool and comfortable (well, something tells me she still wasn't comfortable)...

Well, don't ask me what's going on. I did raise that question with the pinkies. They threw terms like cruciate ligament tear, arthroscopy, epidural, hospital and $4000 at me and I can't make sense of any of this. Did she have a run in with some monster??
Gosh, where were you to protect her? I hope you won't let anything like this happen to me...

The poor honey has been hand-fed dog sausage and milky water. She can't stand up to eat so she gets meals-on-wheels to her bedside.

Today she got ice cubes with frozen treats. I must be fair and mention that I got in on the treats and special treatment, too, so I cannot complain really. But I'd rather have a little less treats and a little more Inky.

She even had to be carried out to go potty. She then sought respite in her kennel.

Now, a word about the kennel: we don't go in there. We only ever go in there when the world's end is nigh or when we feel Armageddon has already been.

So you know what the sentiment around town is at the moment. It's plain awful.

Lucky we got Max and Pekoe here now for 2 weeks. They will be some good company for both, me and the Inks.

I'll keep you updated on the developments of the little one.

Our xmas and NY adventures

Hi all. There has been too much going on to be posting about it all day long but we thought we'd fill you in briefly...

Our xmas starts the 24th of December due to the German element in the family.
So we got ALL our presents on Heiligabend, Christmas Eve.

See the stocking, Janie? Pinkie got the message and did fill it to the rim with surprises.

Inky scored this little critter (which lasted for all of two minutes before its tail and squeek magically disappeared)...

And Molly got a new friend that squeeks from all four feet (thank you Andy and Amanda!)...

We also got some new toys from our big pal Riley...

which came together with a lovely card and letter from him and his new little sister Bonnie...

And of course lot of treats...

We celebrated the night with 7 pinkies and 4 Dales and some may think we had a wild party...

but that's just how the pinkies are normally.
See what we have to put up with? (Sigh)

Thank Dog we had Lili and Osca there to help us cope...

The next morning, Christmas Day, it was off to Melbourne to celebrate with Dad's side of the family.

More pressies...

And we even got our own feet...

They squeek and look great strewn around the house! Thank you grandma!

Then Boxing Day we had a stampede of people at our house and were too busy being good Dale hosts to take any photos.

NYE we celebrated with Osca and Lili again at their ranch in Moriac, outside Geelong.
It was a scorcher and we very much enjoyed having a dip in their Dale pool.
We stayed the night and guarded the ranch while the pinkies were out celebrating at a Blues festival and didn't come home until the next morning.

The neighbours can attest that we did a good job at barking, ahem, guarding ALL NIGHT and that WE didn't sleep one bit. Aren't the pinkies lucky to have us?
As soon as the night shift was finished, we collapsed in a heap and it took us a couple of days of lazing about to recover.

So there you have it. That's how we got through the silly season. And silly we were (biggify)....

Da ich ja schon seitdem ich ganz klitze-klein bin Deutsch spreche, wollte ich ein ganz besonderes "Hallo" zum Beginn des neuen Jahres an meine Leserschaft im Land der Wurst richten. Ich wär' so gerne da um mit euch Wurst zu essen...

Auch würde ich gerne mit Mischka im Schnee spielen...

Und bei Oma und Opa die Rehe im Garten jagen...

Ja, das wünsch' ich mir für 2010. Träumen darf man ja, oder??

We are signing off for the year!

It's been an absolutely terrific year and we are glad to have met so many of you during its course and are proud to call you all friends now!

We've had plenty of adventures in 2009 and look forward to many more in 2010 and to share our stories with you.

As we are still busy being little Santas and preparing big sacks for our friends, we probably won't have enough time left to go around to you all individually but we wish you a terrific time over the next few days and hope that you will spend it with all that a dear to you in peace and harmony. We know, families can be a bit crazy, especially around this time of the year, but if you keep a cool schnoz and a long tongue (Pinkie says, it reliefs stress) it'll all be dandy.

To all of you who have snow at the moment, enjoy it! We are very jealous as we've never even seen the snow before. All your blog entries and pictures look amazing, like a true Winter Wonderland.

Instead, we have a gazillion degrees over here and we can't wait to get out of our Santa cozzies and jump back into the cooling ocean.

We'll touch base again in early Jan and will fill you in on our Dale xmas adventures.

Hi again!

Check out what we've got in the mail...

A very special package from Alabama, USA.

We were soooo excited, we nearly peed our fuzzpants.

We opened it up and there was an envelope with pretty writing...

It's from our fuzzpants comrade Janie!!

The back says, "sealed with actual Aire-slobber". Now how very special is that?!!

Out came a beautiful card...

Janie's mama drew the picture for this card. She is so talented!!

Janie had lots of nice things to say on the card...

Then we opened the pressie that came along with the card. And look...

It's the stocking from Janie's give-away, also made by Janie's mum.
Because it's such a special piece of art, we gave it a special place in OUR house...

It now hangs on The Middle Door, also known as, The Halfway Door, and we hope it will be stuffed to the max by xmas Day (hint, hint, Pinkie).

Just a note on The Middle Door. It forms a seal between the front door/ reception area and the main living area. It basically divides the hallway in half.
Now, rumour has it that this door has been put their especially for us (how nice?!) as to protect us from anything or anyone coming through the front door (although pinkie would like to tell you that it might be the other way around). Since this door is "our" door now (with authentic, long and deep scratches that reinforce our ownership), we felt it was right to decorate it (more) with our things.
